Our ability to gather and engage some of the most talented minds in the Church in critical conversations is a hallmark of Leadership Roundtable’s work. In the spirit of synodality and genuine co-responsibility, we bring together leaders and partners to discuss the opportunities and challenges facing the Church and develop actions to move the Church forward.
Leadership Roundtable has become synonymous in the Catholic Church as the organization that can galvanize our “network of networks” to gather diverse, result-focused Catholic leaders and subject matter experts around any challenge or opportunity facing the Church. We have gathered leaders in the following problem-solving and idea incubation capacities:
In response to requests to convene leaders of national Catholic organizations in the ongoing Synod process, Leadership Roundtable has facilitated gatherings of leaders from non-diocesan Catholic religious organizations, major Catholic nonprofits, foundations, and university institutes to model and educate leaders about synodal processes.
In response to a growing financial crisis within the Catholic Church, Leadership Roundtable hosted 25 leaders in Catholic finance in March 2021 to discuss co-responsibility and ethical financial management in the Church. The convening facilitated a much-needed dialogue among leaders in Church finance to explore the roots of the financial crisis facing the Church.
When the country went into lockdown, we quickly convened two virtual roundtables of top Catholic leaders to address the pandemic. Around the virtual table we brought together an historic summit that included the leadership from over a dozen major Catholic organizations. We also gathered with leaders to address challenges funding and sharing the good work being done during the Pandemic. Together, we facilitated the creation of a May iGiveCatholic campaign and a social media campaign under the hashtag #CatholicCares.
In response to the twin crises of abuse and leadership failure, we convened leaders from universities across the United States to ask what role Catholic higher education could serve in the promoting and enacting solutions to the crises.
Leadership Roundtable convened the 2019 Catholic Partnership Summit in February, which focused on the crises of abuse and leadership failures.
We were also called to the Diocese of Jefferson City, MO to address the clergy convocation in the heat of the crises.
To support struggling Catholic schools, Leadership Roundtable worked with partners to incubate the Drexel Fund, a venture philanthropy fund that invests and collaborates in the growth of high-quality, financially sustainable networks of faith-based and other private schools.
Leadership Roundtable co-hosted the National Symposium on Hispanic Leadership and Philanthropy for a 21st Century Church with Foundations and Donors Interested in Catholic Activities (FADICA), the Mexican American Catholic College (MACC) and the University of the Incarnate Word. The symposium resulted in a robust set of recommendations and action steps for the local and national Church to better serve and develop Hispanic Catholic leaders.
Nearly 40 Roman Catholic bishops gathered for a discussion with business and financial leaders that focused on strengthening the financial outlook of the Catholic Church in the United States.
