On the ground, Catholic pastors are leaders who must fulfill a wide range of roles for their parishioners. Today’s pastor is charged with being priest and counselor, manager and leader, servant and friend. It’s a demanding responsibility for even the most seasoned priests, but even neophytes are increasingly being charged with leading one or more parishes.

Online forums and networks have significantly reduced the time and space needed to learn how to respond to the challenges  one may face as the spiritual, pastoral and administrative leader of a parish.  Parish priests can use this online venue to share best practices with one another. It is meant to highlight what works well in some parishes and then distribute nationally so these practices can be adapted and applied to other parish communities.

CatholicPastor.org is a web-based learning community that offers Catholic priests a platform to engage in an extended conversation and learn from one another across a range of spiritual, pastoral, and administrative responsibilities. This community of practice offers a comprehensive approach to clergy support and development through the opportunity to contribute experiences and practical resources in “Keys to Confident Ministry” and a “Retreat Center” for continual spiritual renewal.
