Catholic Leadership 360 National Cohort

Feedback matters. It is a critical ingredient in effective leadership.

Every Catholic leader — lay, religious, and ordained; paid and volunteer — benefits from feedback. Yet, rarely are those who work closely with Catholic leaders given the opportunity to offer  constructive feedback to their leaders. Catholic Leadership 360 is the only 360-degree feedback tool for pastoral leaders in the Catholic Church in the United States that provides not just insight into their effectiveness but coaching to create and implement a personal development plan.

CATHOLIC LEADERSHIP 360 IS EXPANDING

In response to growing interest in our Catholic Leadership 360 program, Leadership Roundtable has launched nationwide, online cohorts of the program, open to any Catholic leader in the U.S. who is interested in taking advantage of all the program has to offer. Our national online Catholic Leadership 360 program uses a 360-degree assessment tool to provide respectful, structured feedback on key leadership competencies and behaviors that have been shown to contribute to the success of Catholic pastoral leaders and to identify and map out a plan for ministerial leadership development.

Leadership development is a vital part of Catholic ministry. Participants who complete the clergy or lay leader version of the Catholic Leadership 360 program, and who use the information they have drawn from it to create a personal development plan, gain:

  • Increased self-awareness of their leadership competencies
  • A deeper understanding of personal strengths and areas in which to grow
  • Motivation to change specific leadership behaviors
  • Stronger working relationships with others
  • A method for tracking personal development as a leader in the Catholic community and elsewhere

The 360 Assessments provide feedback on leadership competencies and behaviors that have been shown to contribute to the success of clergy and lay leaders in their respective roles. The Assessments focus on the areas of Communication, Leading Others, Relationships, Planning, and Personnel Management. The instrument is designed to collect feedback from a wide range of people (known as “raters”), hence the term “360.”

WHAT PARTICIPANTS ARE SAYING ABOUT CATHOLIC LEADERSHIP 360

“Participating in Catholic Leadership 360 was invaluable. Before becoming a priest, I had 20 years of corporate experience, but being a pastor is a different ball game. The feedback I received through the 360 process confirmed some strengths and shortcomings I knew I had, but also opened my eyes and provided a fresh perspective on areas I was not aware of.”

Fr. Pat Garrett, Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston

“I knew the process would be helpful, but it is even more helpful than I anticipated. I have been in Church ministry a long time–my entire adult life. Recognizing behaviors that have become strengths and seeing areas I can develop further are invaluable benefits for my personal growth and my ongoing development as a lay ecclesial minister.”

Mary Ellen Mahon, Secretary for Catholic Formation, Director of Pastoral Ministry, Diocese of Manchester
