National Symposium on Hispanic Leadership and Philanthropy for a 21st Century Church

This week, the Leadership Roundtable hosted its 12th national gathering of top leaders from the Church, as well as from business, philanthropic, educational and other sectors. We are proud to partner with FADICA (Foundations and Donors Interested in Catholic Activities), the Mexican American Catholic College, and the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio to convene a seminal symposium on Hispanic Leadership and Philanthropy for a 21st Century Church.

Catholic leaders convened by the Leadership Roundtable and our partners in San Antonio, Texas, called for greater investment to support those in Hispanic ministry. 120 archbishops, academics, philanthropists, business leaders, and key stakeholders discussed the tremendous growth of the Hispanic population, and the challenge that growth presents to the Catholic Church to meet the pastoral needs of Hispanics and cultivate leaders from that population. Further dialogue, partnerships, and plans are underway to share the proceedings and distill from the many salient recommendations a blueprint for action. The first-of-its kind Symposium was the beginning of a conversation that also continues on Twitter using the hashtag #HispCathLead2015.

With presentations from Archbishop José H. Gomez, María del Mar Muñoz-Visoso, Arturo Chávez, Diana Richardson Vela, Hosffman Ospino, Monica Cruz, Javier Bustamente, Ana Gloria Rivas-Vázquez, Roberto Goizueta, Estela Villagrán Manancero, Louis Agnese, Olga Villar, Joseph Boland, Alixzandra Peña, Archbishop Gustavo García-Siller, and others, we engaged in dialogue about the challenges and opportunities of Hispanic ministry and leadership in our Church.
